Netbooks: deliveries to double by 2013

The netbook market seems to be working better than expected: According to a study by ABI Research by the end of 2010 this will be delivered 60 million netbooks worldwide, a figure that will more than double in 2013. Not all netbook all companies will be part of this record, of course.


As for 2009, about a dozen companies producing netbook haswon 78% of the market. The previous year, Acer and Asus, the pioneer in the market with the Eee PC, kept in hand third of the market, but Asus has kept the leading position losing half its marketshare in 2009. Among other large companies that have laniate in this area are HP, Dell and Lenovo, who quickly gaining market share throughout 2009.

According to ABI Research, the smaller companies will exit the marketshort. The netbook, contrary to initial expectations, they are not replacing laptop or PC, but are increasingly becoming complementary terminals, especially in education and among frequent travelers.
