Asus Eee Top: the opening drive of the case and replace the RAM
ByPierre Blogeee.net has published a series of images showing how to open a EeeTop. Be noted that the author considers the transaction is not at all easy enough to call it “more difficult than necessary to open the EeeBox. Disassemble the case is required to access to slots (two, including one free) RAM memory and to raise it or replace it, since there is no one special door.
Let’s see how to proceed step by step.
Does it take to start to remove the bracket that allows all EeeTop to “stand” is quite simple and does not void the warranty, since it can also be replaced by the supplied VESA mount in the box to the PC all-in-one at Asus wall.
Just unscrew the screws that hold a long screwdriver.

What you see below (Fig. 1) is the bracket that holds even the webcam. Above and below it, the four rubber pads hide other screws, unscrew them too. The same goes for the screws (also covered them) that are the corners dell EeeTop.
Be careful to set it aside and mark their original position, since they are different from those removed from the bracket.

Now you may start to open the case using a thin screwdriver or a credit card (not valid … maybe), the greatest caution is recommended here because everything seems very delicate.

Before attempting to remove the upper part of the case, make sure you have dropped the plastic that houses the SD card reader and two USB ports, otherwise it will be resisted. Here’s what the plasitc dell EeeTop once removed.

Then replace the RAM or adding a lock to the slot vacated by Asus, is simple and immediate, the modules are DDR2 Sodimm 667 Mhz, then compatible with the classic used on laptops and netbooks (yes, even those of the old EeePC) .
