The openSUSE project, a global project sponsored by Novell, today announced that openSUSE 11.2 is available for download. The openSUSE distribution is the basis of the award-winning SUSE Linux Enterprise from Novell.
openSUSE is a secure and stable operating system based on Linux, which is not only easy to use but also includes everything needed to start using Linux on desktops or servers. openSUSE is an excellent Linux distribution dedicated to everyone, not just Linux users to experts but also to those interested in making contact with Linux and start using the best of open source software.
The Release 11.2 of openSUSE brings with him nearly a year of development and presents new versions of Firefox, OpenOffice.org, GNOME, KDE, and most of the 1,000 open source desktop applications. OpenSUSE also has a complete suite of server software, and a rich selection of tools for developing open source. Some of the new features in this version include:
* KDE 4.3, a major update to the KDE platform, which offers better support to networking and a better integration of Firefox and OpenOffice.org in KDE environment.
* GNOME 2.28, the latest version of the famous GNOME desktop, which includes a brand new theme, better application for software updates, enhancements of video applications and Webcams of GNOME, and new capabilities to prepare for the arrival of the GNOME platform GNOME 3.0 in 2010. * OpenOffice.org 3.1 is a complete office productivity suite compatible with Microsoft Office. This version includes improvements to change the tracking collaboration Writer and further improvements to the application of design.

* The technology preview of WebYaST: a tool for remote administration web-based systems allowing both openSUSE maintenance simplified administration.
* Usability improvements including the ability to install GNOME or KDE live media from USB, a number of improvements that allow openSUSE 11.2 to run on netbooks and better support for updates using zypper, so that users can make openSUSE 11.1 Upgrading to 11.2 without having to use an installer.
