Netbook free thanks to advertising The idea of an expert in Linux. All thanks to Chrome OS

By

The British journalist Glyn Moody, author of “Rebel Code”, one of the texts that best explains the history of open-source movement, has exposed an interesting theory that provides the marketing of netbooks “at no cost, or almost” because Google Chrome use of the operating system OS.

Moody’s reasoning is simple because with this system application will be exclusively web-based, what do I need a hard drive? An inexpensive hardware and with a minimum amount of RAM would be enough to run Chrome OS on machines specially designed.

Moody Google is thinking the same service which can display targeted advertising on the user’s screen allowing them to cut costs and provide a netbook “about $ 20.

Basically you give them a netbook as long as you are willing to display advertising on the screen.

Is not the first time you speak of “free netbook. Last July, Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, suggested a scenario in which the data were netbook users at no cost in exchange for contracts with mobile operators (a kind of loan for use).

I personally think that the idea of the author of Rebel Code is fascinating and quite feasible. Just look at the millions of users every day to fill the server services such as Facebook with their personal (really personal) to realize that privacy is not a major factor when it comes to “large masses on the Internet.”

What do you think? Interested in netbooks from 20 euros in exchange for some ads?
