Windows 7 on a Netbook
By
I resume the series, which I interrupted due to reasons of force majeure. We left with the installation on a desktop, this time talking instead of a Netbook.
As mentioned, a few months ago, in anticipation of the release of Windows 7, I bought a second generation of netbooks, namely an Aspire One. Actually I wanted to wait a while ‘to get one with the multi-touch, but still waiting the last things you end up not enjoying anything;)
Digression aside, I believe that the current level of netbook hardware is exceptional. Virtually arrived, with a weight and a great form factor, to be where a normal laptop 3 years ago it was, the screen apart.
Cause various alterations, I found myself with a 2 GB DDR2 module I advanced, high performance ones, and I took advantage to make the uprgade. Have 2 GB of RAM is obviously a great advantage, using 1 GB, which is assured when you leave the factory, the performances are excellent: this netbook has only ever had Windows 7, the various beta to RTM, so the My yardstick is based on speed compared to what was seen with the RC, because the RTM has always enjoyed 2 GB.
Currently this netbook has a disc from 5400, which is probably its Achilles heel, I plan to put an SSD when they have more affordable prices.
The installation went away quickly, about 30 minutes. To do that I used the opportunity to boot from USB, copying the ISO inside, since there is a DVD player. Actually this is the method of the USB that I used with all installations, it is really recommended. I used a “normal” disk controller used with an ad hoc, for the record.
All devices were recognized perfectly, Aero is disabled, as shown by the score.
This has become the netbook computers (where there are:)), and is used by 2 other people besides me, that clearly there are good, because in fact they were already using the first Windows 7 beta.
The improvements in Windows 7 as a disk management, within the resources, network management, new features homegroup and, above all, the PlayTo that allows remote control device / PC compatible with DLNA, make it really easy to use . The only thing missing from this device to be perfect with Windows 7 is the support of the multi-touch.
